Spending our Christmas at a traditional Japanese inn in the countryside, we enjoyed the most hospitable staff who treated us like family. The seafood-based breakfast and dinner were fantastic and beautifully presented. The natural hot springs were rejuvenating and we particularly enjoyed the cave. Additionally, we appreciated that the hotel was entirely non-smoking.
While there was nothing that we disliked, as Westerners, we had to get used to the traditional futon beds which were a bit hard for our liking. Additionally, while the hotel's location offered a perfect vacation spot, the closest mass transit was about a 20-minute walk and the area did not have good taxi service. We were grateful that the staff drove us to the train station when we left.

The staff were incredibly hospitable, treating me like family. The traditional dinners and breakfasts were beautifully prepared and served with respect. The onsen was relaxing, especially the cave. This hotel was also entirely non-smoking - a rare find in Japan.

My recent stay in the Japanese countryside was nothing short of remarkable. the location was charming, offering delicious seafood-based traditional meals for breakfast and dinner with superb hospitality. the natural hot spring bath was the perfect rejuvenating escape, especially the cave. Our non-smoking room provided a cozy traditional futon bed and breathtaking views. the hotel staff was accommodating, even offering a courtesy drive to the nearest mass transit station.
Transportation accessibility was a bit limited within walking distance.

Spent New Year's at a rural Japanese hotel and it was absolutely amazing! Loved the traditional dinner and breakfast that was both beautifully presented and delicious. , the onsen was the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after all the festivities. Plus, the location was surrounded by stunning nature and offered the perfect opportunity to enjoy the countryside.
That the location was a bit remote, so it was a challenge to get around without a car. the beds were a bit firm, which took a bit of getting used to.
